Greetings
Fumihiko Yasuda, Principal of Kyoto Tachibana High School
Thank you for visiting the 57th Subscription Concert of the Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band, despite your busy schedule. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all parents for their deep understanding and cooperation, and for the great support of our graduates and local residents. By the way, the brass band club of our school plays an important role of “directing the place” by playing at various events such as entrance ceremonies and graduation ceremonies inside the school, and many concerts and music festivals outside the school. We appear in events and are engaged in ambitious activities that give people “energy and excitement”. The activity has been taken up by many media, and it is truly a representative department of our school. Due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection that is prevailing all over the world this year, the competitions and presentations that the students were aiming for have been canceled one after another or have been held only on the web. Although the students had a very hard time, they continued to practice while participating in the concerts that were being held little by little. And we are welcoming today. At today’s regular concert, we hope that you will enjoy it while feeling the “feelings of the students” that we have been working on together even under these circumstances. In conclusion, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the people concerned for their warm support and cooperation in holding this concert in Corona. I sincerely hope that this year’s concert will be a moving one, and I would like to say hello.
Hisashi Hiramatsu, Special Advisor to the Brass Band Club of Kyoto Tachibana High School (1935-2021)
Enjoy beautiful harmony with all your heart! Congratulations on holding the 57th Subscription Concert today. Thank you to everyone at the venue. It was a pity that we couldn’t do what we expected this year in the unexpected situation of the new coronavirus epidemic, which is different from the usual year. However, it was also an opportunity for me to practice with a different mindset than usual. I am looking forward to hearing a new sound today as the total financial results for the year with all of these special thoughts. And I would like to express my gratitude to the teachers who are instructing me, the irreplaceable parents who are indebted to me, my seniors, and the people who come to the venue to watch over me. Please let the harmony resonate. And with the joy of playing, it would be a great joy if we could share the next energy with the happy moments together with the people at the venue. Thank you to all the 3rd year students for their hard work. We sincerely give ale to the next challenge, which is based on the experience of the bridge that we have cultivated with our friends.
The Advisors of the Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band Club
We are very busy today, and thank you for visiting the 57th Subscription Concert of the Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band Club. Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, this year was a completely different year. Major events have been canceled one after another from around March of the end of last year. Even under such circumstances, the members have found the significance of club activities themselves and have been working hard without looking down. It was a year when I felt once again that the time to be able to do club activities with my friends was not a matter of course, but a truly happy experience. Even in the uncertain future, the members continue to work brightly and energetic. Parents, local people, teachers and graduates, and all the people who support the Kyoto Tachibana High School brass band can play “Full of smiles! Full of energy! Full of dreams!” I am really grateful for your help. We will continue to devote ourselves to becoming a club that is loved by everyone, and we look forward to your warm support.
Eri Sakamizu, Chairman of the Band Alumni Association
We would like to express our sincere congratulations on holding the 57th Subscription Concert by. This year, the effects of the coronavirus have made life less commonplace. Even under these circumstances, I think that all the active students were able to practice hard, devise and prepare, and have a lot of thoughts in their hearts. Please enjoy the regular concert, which is the culmination of this year, so that it will be a wonderful stage for active students. We also hope that all of you will have a wonderful time on the Tachibana stage, which is full of energy, full of smiles, and full of dreams. Last but not least, on behalf of the graduates, I would like to thank the parents, faculty and staff, and teachers for their guidance in conducting this concert. We look forward to your continued guidance and support.
Nakamura-san, President of the Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band Club
Thank you for visiting the “57th Subscription Concert” today. Due to the epidemic of the new coronavirus this year, we were unable to carry out normal activities. However, with the support of everyone who came today, everyone who is watching the LIVE distribution, and many people, we were able to welcome today’s regular concert. Together with the friends I met at Kyoto Tachibana High School, I will do my best to bring smiles and energy to everyone at today’s concert, with the experience and pride that only Tachibana High School has made. Please enjoy until the end!

Song Introduction
La Forme De Chaque amour change comme le Kaléidoscope (Masamichi Amano 1957-)
The composer Masamichi Amano wrote about this work in the program notes at the time of the premiere as follows. “Love”, which should be the theme of life. There may be various forms of “love” such as human love, parent-child love, male-female love, refracted love, universal love, etc. The form of each love may change like a kaleidoscope. There may be. This song was written with the theme of “the shape of love”. The atmosphere of the song is also structured to change like a kaleidoscope. As you can see from this commentary, the music is dominated by a fantastic atmosphere, in which various melodies that express the form of “love” appear in transition. There is “love” that you can hear the transformation, and there is also “love” that shows an unexpected appearance. As the title suggests, each form of love changes like a kaleidoscope. We unveiled this song for the first time at the “Kyoto Comprehensive Cultural Festival Brass Band Division” held at the Kyoto Concert Hall on November 7th this year. Tonight, I will wholeheartedly express “a form of love that changes like a kaleidoscope”!
Canterbury Chorale (Jan Van der Roost 1956-)
Composed as a brass band work in 1990, based on the impression that the composer visited the “Canterbury Cathedral” produced in the world in the southeastern part of England. It was released as a brass band version in 1993. It is widely loved all over the world as a masterpiece with a very elegant melody and a magnificent atmosphere. The playing time is about 6 minutes. Music that flows like a relaxing taiga continues from beginning to end, and the soloists of each part are intertwined as a small number of unsamples. The tension rises gracefully, eventually reaching a magnificent climax, and then quietly ending with a chime that reminds us of a church bell. That is exactly the cathedral itself. The stone pillars lined up, the organ that echoes from the dark ceiling, the light that shines through the stained glass … It’s a lovable song that seems to break away from the real world and has delicacy in solemnity. How to polish simple and beautiful songs with the expressive power of music … It is also our very stoic challenge. Because of this era, we will play “Canterbury Chorale”, which was unveiled for the first time tonight, with all our hearts and gratitude and wishes for peace!
Festival Variations (Claude Thomas Smith 1932-1987)
A masterpiece of Claude Smith, also known as a masterpiece of “Brilliant Dance,” “Fanfare, Ballad and Jubilee,” and “Variations on Louis Bourgeois Hymns.” is. Composed in 1982 by the US Air Force Washington Band and conductor Arnald Gabriel. It is one of the works that pursued the possibilities of brass band to the utmost limit, and is extremely popular. Advanced playing techniques, modern playing styles, and romantic sounds are all condensed into one song. The song begins with a difficult horn passage, followed by fine tonguing passages on the trumpet and trombone, and high-speed passages on woodwinds and xylophones. As you can see from the title of the song, it is a gorgeous work that is festive and enthusiastic, and every part is a series of transcendental techniques. Especially for the finale, it will be a climax. Tonight, I will aim for a polite and powerful performance so that I can demonstrate my usual ability!

I at long last found this in English, thank goodness. The students are far cleverer than I am, because they can dance and play at the same time. I have no music ability at all. just reading this has reminded me of the show which I watched on line. I sat here for 2 plus hours absolutely enthralled. I am hoping that there will be another on line concert before the seniors graduate, or have they graduated already? I watch them every night and more often than not go to bed with a tune in my head. Love it. Keep reaching for the sky Tachibana. I will follow you as long as I am able!! love everything you do. God bless you all. I wish you all prosperity, good health, lots of love and laughter.

I thought the music of the Color Guard show was “Fancy Stage” as shown in the caption. Fancy Stage mix is a song by the Korean girl band TWICE.

As they had in the program “Classical Stage” and “Pops Stage” I thought “Fancy Stage” would just be the name of the program segment featuring the Color Guards.
