Translation of the following interview with Club President

MC: Your name please.
Club President: I’m Bucho (=Club President)….
MC: Nice to meet you.
CP: Nice to meet you!
MC: Have you ever been to Asuka Village before?
CP: No, this is my first time.
MC: It is your first time. Even local Nara people don’t come here that often. This is a special place with a long history. From the north, there is Kyoto, Nara, Fujiwara-kyo, and then Asuka. Asuka is really an old town. What was your impression when you first came here?
CP: My first impression is that it is a peaceful place with a lot of greenery. I thought it is a wonderful place where time passes slowly.
MC: From here, you can see that there is a lot of greenery behind the audience. And the sky above them is …….

MC: Did you go to Kyoto Tachibana High School because of the brass band?
CP: When I was in junior high school, I had the opportunity to attend a joint performance of the Kyoto Tachibana High School brass band and my junior high school, and the cheerful atmosphere of KT really struck a chord with me, so I wanted to join the KT band.
MC: Are you glad you joined?
CP: Yes, I am. The people I am working with in the club are very nice, and there are many people who support us, including the teachers, so I am truly grateful to be in such a blessed environment.
MC: I have had the opportunity to watch the Kansai preliminary rounds and the national competitions of the All Japan Marching Contest. You have won the gold medal in the national contest for three years in a row, congratulations.
CP: Thank you very much.
MC: I saw all those competitions at the venue. It was wonderful to see everyone performing so vividly. The first thing in marching is to keep moving, but recently your sound has become very beautiful.
CP: Yes, recently we have been putting a lot of effort not only into the performance (movements?) but also into the music itself.

MC: I feel strongly about that, because I see you perform every year. I watch them perform and admire the music as well.

MC: You have been busy recently with invitations from all over the place, haven’t you?
CP: Thankfully, we have the support of many people, and we receive warm cheers everywhere we go. Thanks to their support, we are enjoying our days.
MC: You have been to other places besides Japan, haven’t you?
CP: We were invited to Taiwan, and although we could not speak their language, we had a great time communicating with them through music.
MC: Did you have a good time in Taiwan?
CP: Yes, it was a lot of fun.
MC: By the way, you are going to another far away place now, aren’t you?
CP: We are going to the United States.
MC: Introduce us.
CP: Next New Year’s we are going to compete in the Rose Parade in the United States. (applause)
MC: It is said to be the biggest parade in the world. It’s a venerable and amazing parade that has been called “the best parade of all parades.”
MC: Has Kyoto Tachibana been in the parade several times? Is this your first time on your own?
CP: We have participated twice before. This will be our third time.
MC: This is not an easy parade to be in, even if you wanted to. It’s a very prestigious parade, and you can participate in it. When is the date?
CP: I think it’s in January, on the 2nd or 3rd.

MC: They will be in the Rose Parade on the 2nd or 3rd of January, so please support them.

MC: Where are you going to go after Asuka Village today?
CP: We have an important competition next, the All Japan Band Competition. Please support us.
MC: They have a seated band competition and a marching competition coming up.
Thank you very much.
