  1. Rina=”Pīru”?? Wasn’t her nickname at KT “Ocarina”? I am little confused now. Because she say that name in her presentation on O-VILS’ Youtube channel.

    • ODF …I do not see the Clarinet players listed. One of them being Yui. Will they be added? oooops reading the list again I see Tama-chan a clarinet player. Also, will the farewell letters/notes be interpreted for us Japanese nonreaders? I know O-vils is very popular in Japan … are foreign tours in the works for sometime in the future? I hope I’m still around to see that historic moment.

      • Oh, so that’s what that one is. Yes, I always thought the marching version was like an oversized trumpet. Besides Hatsuki, I noticed the current and previous drum major of Kobe Koryo High School both play the instrument.

        • tg7278- I’m not sure that Kobe Koryo play baritone horns. They look more like Marching French Horns to me, but would welcome more knowledgeable views: [https://youtu.be/fI7sy92rOLk?si=Ifn03_yl7mm8rEN8]

          • The two instruments are quite similar. Comparing what Kobe Koryo are playing with online pictures from instrument dealers, the tighter wrap and the larger bore of the tube going around from the valves to the bell looks more consistent with a baritone to me.

            • Looking at the mouthpiece, I’ll give you that. The thing is, the baritone horns I know of (to have heard many a time but not played) are played upright and sound different. But then, I’ve never heard a marching French horn closeup either, only the “real” ones with a warmer, deeper sound. Tho’ the instrument played by Kobe Koryo certainly suits their style.

  2. Perhaps Pon isn’t a former member just yet, as he played at the last O-VILS show in March. Maybe he just helps out when he’s available.

Saho’s Twitter link is a dead end. She’s actually now at @ovils_saho.

      • Yeah, I’ve seen that. Maybe he’s not a “regular” member, just someone Yuina calls on when she sees they need a particular instrument. After the March show, I read the comments he’d written somewhere (I forgot where), and according to the translation, he seemed grateful for the opportunity to play with O-VILS again. I figure the line up for every O-VILS show is going to change because I’m guessing it depends on who is available to play. Rina wasn’t in the shows last July and December but she was there for the shows this past January and March.

  3. I think Piine only played that one show with them last year, didn’t she? Wasn’t she the one with stage fright?

    Misato plays classical music gigs.
