This is my favorite expedition, maybe even surpassed the 2018 Rose Parade. Lots of performances (the one in gym shorts at Liberty Square is my favorite even though it’s a practice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdf8N_nZnX8 there’s also another one in Liberty Square in orange skirts and white T shirts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfXtS6ppCAA this practice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt8wIScEqRA and this main performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-zw-ERtkgk Some Taiwanese fans with keen eyes were able to read the embroidered names on the gym clothes. Lots of interviews showing how the bands practice and the organisation of the band. In this Taiwan expedition line up, some Taiwanese fan was able to spot a sousaphone player in the colour guard, and how in one performance there were 81 instrument players while in others there were 87, and some of the colour guards played the clarinet and the flute as well. This is a gold mine of information in HD to satisfy my orange fever.

All the events seems to have a hundred videos except for the stage show at National Concert Hall. Looks like the band is really popular in Taiwan, in my estimate probably 2 million(or more) views in YT in a span of 5 days. Even in Japan, you can’t get a million views/week, but in Taiwan even for just hours the videos can get 100K, even from those little known youtubers. Finally, no videos from bilibili 🙂

Attempted translation of parts of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUa4naI5h8I
It uses the Google Translate camera function and is liable to many errors. Some bits were incomprehensible, so I read between the lines so to speak. Improvements would be very welcome!
First, the students are seen preparing for the “flash mob”. The excited presenter comments on how they move sprightly, despite the weight of some of the instruments. Then a vox pop of audience members who are all bowled over. One says that the performance is of an international standard, rarely seen locally. He adds that it is an artistic creation. After which, “Renpy” teaches her the famous 62.5 cm step. Following which, the presenter comments it is hard to imagine that 70% of the students had no prior musical instrument experience before joining the band. (Either this is a mistranslation, or she means “marching” experience.)
Renpy talks of the challenge of flying shoes, which the presenter had noticed. “Must never be seen by the public,” Renpy says. “Just pretend it’s OK and continue playing”. The presenter then describes the band’s history, its seniority system and how the tradition of the seniors has been passed down to create a legend. She makes the link with Sound! Euphonium and how the anime portrays the hard work that goes into creating the consequent applause. “Those that can’t keep up will be eliminated.” After which, Kaneshiro-sensei explains the hard practice and long hours put in by KT’s students, emphasising that the band is an extracurricular club. The presenter continues about how, just a month after the freshmen have joined, the 88 members must play together (the background video is the Rose Parade, not quite appropriate for her comment!). She then asks Kaneshiro-sensei about unexpected situations that may arise, such as flying shoes. He replies that such situations often occur, like an accidental collision, or instruments that break and won’t play. The answer, he says, is to just keep on performing till the end. (The background video is showing the scene where Trombone prematurely swings left). As for flying shoes, the normal procedure is to kick them off the performance area. Kaneshiro-sensei repeats that accidents are hard to avoid.
The presenter then notes that even during breaks, the students always show enthusiasm towards whatever camera is being pointed at them and shout, “Love Taiwan”. Back at the interview, Renpy describes how happy everyone feels with the very warm welcome they had received. It has left a deep impression. She continues by saying that when they learnt of their forthcoming visit, the students didn’t know much about Taiwan, but that they then gathered a lot of information. She also talks about the food, feasting as if at a castle banquet.
After which, the Secretary General of the Cultural Federation describes how the students of both KT and Taipei First Girls’ had carefully prepared gifts for each other, some hand painted. He talks of the cultural importance of such exchanges (is there a hint of Taipei First’s girls visiting Japan?). Towards the end, the presenter, over the video background of the “flash mob”, talks of the “youthful invincibility” of the Orange Devils. I think she adds that such exchanges promise well for the future.
Finally, we hear KT shout their tour slogan: “I love Taiwan!”

I believe the journalists @SET iNews know nothing about KT and all the information in the news flash could be Googled.
The first guy interviewed is who he suggests to invite KT and involved in the negotiations, he reveals the parents are the key to KT accepted the invitation. The second guy is a college music professor but I’m not sure if he is involved from the short interview.

About live streaming abroad: there will be domestically and for free for sure but not sure about abroad. My suggestion is write to madame Bi-Khim Hsiao who is Ambassador of Taiwan to the US @twitter/bikhim, or even madame Ing-wen Tsai, President of ROC @twitter/iingwen, they will be surprised that people demand to watch live streaming from abroad just because KT is invited!

Our friends of the blog has dig out a lot of information about the forth coming Taiwan trip of KT but let me add some more.
They will spend the first night at the Grand Hotel of Taipei which is like the Waldorf Astoria of New York. The second night will be Caesar Park Hotel which used to be the first Hilton of Taiwan, it is chosen because is not far from the Presidential Office. And I agree that it may all pay by the ceremony organizer.
The ceremony will take place in a boulevard in front of the Presidential Office and the Taipei’s First Girl’s Senior High School is also nearby. Alan has uploaded some information of “Beiyi” to the Fan Corner which are all correct but we boys tend to call them “Beiyau” because we say one as “yau” the military way like alpha-bravo-charlie and “yau” also means devils so our Orange Devils will pay a visit to the Northern Devils but I’m not sure if they will perform together because they very different.
There will be rehearsals before October 10th, maybe one or two for KT in 9th and even one during the night time which I may see them in person but not the best environment of video/picture shooting. I did have Nikon digital SLR and lens but don’t have proper equipment for video, I wish I can meet some videographers there and hope they can share some works on YouTube.

It is officially announced! As a “Bravo-Ojisan” from Taiwan, I would like to wish all the members, advicers and supporters of the club, students, teachers and principal of the school and maybe some friends of this blog a happy journey to Taiwan.
I myself live in the 西門町 in Taipei which means a borough around the western entrance of the old Taipei town, now a tourist attraction, and about 15 minutes walk to the ceremony site. I am afraid I am not invited to the ceremony but I will wait outside the site to hope I can see the Orange Devils in person.

Sorry for the request, but I would be very happy about it.
I was a bit skeptical that the trip would actually take place, but I’m all the happier now.

At last it’s official! What a tremendous honour: the first group from a foreign country to be invited to perform at Taiwan’s National Day celebration!
The band fully expects to be publicly broadcast: “We hope that our performance will bring smiles not only to the people of Taiwan but also to people around the world who will see our performance” (DeepL translation).
It is also quite a feat of organisation; presumably Taiwan’s three-day quarantine will apply. If it does, perhaps it will offer good study time for the band’s students?
