This video is a genuine treasure from the GBA Archives: an hour-long video of Tachibana marching from start to finish at the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade on January 2, 2012 (click here for more details of that expedition).

Legendary Horacha-senpai gets ample screentime, as well as you will see Tanaka-sensei rare moment of wildness!

Most humble Thank You to GBA to make it possible for the readers of this blog to see such a rare gem!

  1. Wow, this is great stuff. Though I had to take breaks from viewing it since the camera was moving around. I started to feel a bit of motion sickness. Was that Mie with the CG at about 40:55? I think I saw the 107th’s Haruto-san a few times (now support trombonist for O-VILS). I didn’t see Majima-san, I think someone said she was a cymbal player then. Nor did I recognize Vanilla among the percussion section. But I did see Natchan, her dimples gave her away. 😆

    • Yes, that was Mie at 40:55. Majima-san can be seen closely at 19:05 (with short-hair & glasses). Vanilla can be clearly seen at 19:10 on bass drum.

      • Oh wow, that was Majima-san?? So I did see her, just didn’t recognize her. I thought she would have long hair like she did in 2018. And she has since lost the glasses. Was she the lead drummer at that time? Vanilla had long hair then, she has short hair now. By the time of her senior year, she had short hair. I don’t know how I didn’t recognize that smile. 😁

        • Although the 108th class only had 2 percussionists, Majima, whose KT band nickname is “Fittsu” (pronounced Fit-ser), did not hold any specific positions of responsibility. The other drummer, “Pingū” (pronounced Pin-ger), was the lead drummer, part & section leader, and marching composition team representative. “Pingū” is the extreme right snare drummer in the band’s direction during 2012 Rose Parade.

Her Twitter name is “Thank You Majima,” so I just went with that (it was also her name in the Zekkei Kujira band). I assume Majima is her real name but who knows for sure. I’ve since seen some photos of her from her Zekkei Kujira days where she was wearing glasses. But in most photos she is without them, so I guess she switched to contacts. I assume at some point during her time at KT, she played snare drum, since that’s what she was playing in the 2018 Rose Parade.

  2. “Legendary Horacha-senpai gets ample screentime”- jolly good thing too!
Also, perhaps appropriately towards the start of the parade, KT’s Sing3 original designer Shiba-san says hello!
This is the first time we can properly see and hear the parade. Here’s a heretic thought. The 2018 parade was of course the best ever parade in the entire history of parades since the dawn of time, except for… this one?
Thank you GBA for the video… and for making it all possible.
