First time since 2015 Tachibana wins Gold at the National Finals of the AJBA Marching Contest held on November 21, 2021 at Ōsaka-jō Hall.
In the same contest Izusho won Bronze.

Tachibana has set the Gold Standard for years now, the only challenge is to maintain it. It’s not as tangible as medal of gold, blue ribbon, or trophy sky high. It’s ingrained in their psyche. It’s demonstrated not only in every performance, but every late night-over the weekend pain staking practice to make perfect. They not only have to sound great, they have to move great-WoW. When I first saw their bright orange uniforms, I wasn’t initially impressed; I favor the blue and gold uniforms. It wasn’t until I got to really experience and follow Tachibana that I realized, yeah, you see them coming and there’s not much you can do about it. Tachiban-Rocks!

I am elated by Kyoto Tachibana Wind Club’s winning Gold 🥇 at the National competition. My heartiest Congratulations to the members of the band, director Kaneshiro sensei, coach, advisors and supporters who worked very hard to achieve this win.
I’m a bit confused, is there any change to the awarding rules as there are 9 Gold winners but isn’t one of the 9 supposed to be the National Gold winner?

lerocher- The gold winners have not been ranked since 2012. Note that the number of gold winners has varied over the years, for example there were 11 in 2019; although the total number of bands participating in the marching contest finals has always been 25.

Hi Alan,
KT was awarded Gold Gold in 2015 & I was kinda expecting that this year. As KT didn’t win in the years after 2015, I didn’t watch any of those videos & wasn’t aware of the rules changes.

There might be a confusion here. At the 2015 National awards ceremony, we hear the announcer say to KT: “Gōrudo Kin Shō”. This means “Gold Gold Award” (ゴールド 金 賞). The reason “Gold” is repeated, is because the formal term for “Gold”, Kin (金), is easily mistaken for “Silver” which is pronounced Gin (銀). So another word meaning Gold is first used, Gōrudo (ゴールド) to avoid an embarrassing misunderstanding. So “Gold Gold” did not mean an elevated or special kind of Gold.

Maybe not the current system, each and every judge can give gold, silver or bronze to each and every participants. If more than half judges give them gold and gold it is, if more than half bronze and bronze it is, anything in between are given silver. There was a video showed that the advicer of Seika announced to his girls that they received straight gold from every judges…

This is wonderful news, the Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band is the greatest, in my opinion, in the world, hands down, every country should invite the whole band to march and display their precision performance, they would be simply astonished at the bands amazing performance, as we all have when we first learned about the band… Keep up the great work and feel proud with national pride…
