I can’t make all of it out, but salient points are that the School Brass Band performed first, followed by the University Band. The concert ended with both bands together, playing Alte Kameraden (Old Comrades).
Here is Professor Hiramatsu conducting Alte Kameraden performed by the joint 2019 Sakura Parade bands. [https://youtu.be/3ug2cFF0SX4]

Thanks a lot Alan for providing the information. Grateful that Mr. Tanaka posted the photos of the memorial programe. It’s at least something for those of us who could not participate. Thanks for your additional notes and the video link too. I see it’s 2019 when Professor Hiramatsu conducted that. Just hard to imagine he has passed. Thank you again Alan!

I am a musician, I play the piano and when I met the founding director of the band Kioto Tachibana in the Rose Parade in the USA with his 83 years on his pkeno birthday I must say that I was excited, parading with his cteation representing his Nation I think that a better birthday gift than that is difficult to imagine. The commemoration of his disappearance has no limits, it is the law of life that makes the body disappear, but what remains and will remain forever and ever in the hearts of those who were his students, colleagues and those who had the pleasure to meet you in vifa, it is your SPIRIT, YOUR SOUL AND YOUR HEART, from HEAVEN ITSELF NEXT TO THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD THE FATHER PROFESSOR HISASHI HIRAMATSU WILL ACCOMPANY YOU IN THE MEMORY OF EVERYONE AND SPILL HIS BLESSING SO THAT WHAT IS CREATED MAY LAST FOREVER FILLING KIOTO TACHIBANA HIGH SCHOOL WITH PASSION AND STUDENT PRIDE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.- The teacher was born in 1935 and his fan was born in POSADAS, PROVINCE OF MISSIONS, ARGENTINE REPUBLIC IN 1944, I reckon I must be his only prehistoric fan.

I find myself still grasping that professor Hiramatsu has passed. My mind swirls with thoughts and images that just 3 short years ago how he was energetically and enthusiasticlly walking, smiling and waving along the entire route of the Tournament of Roses Parade on his 83rd birthday!! Images of his passionate conducting and his humble pride and enthusiasm when leading his beloved Kyoto Tachibana Family Band. I will always remember his sweet and sincere smile.
Thank you for the announcement of his memorial service ODF. Even if it’s closed to the public, it’s still great to know so that we can at least take a moment of silence on that day and, at the very least, we can pay respect and remembrance to a incredibly beautiful soul whose vision has not only profoundly touched an entire world in a most positive way, but will continue to do so through eternity. His spirit will remain in every generation of Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School Band. May their beautiful music always accompany his resting in peace. God Bless you Professor.

A memorial event would be very good, he deserves it. The Scottish New Year song ‘Old Lang Syne’ springs to mind. Am looking forward to watching when it appears on Utube. Could someone let us foreigners know please?
