Fans of this site know that KT won the Gold Prize at the 34th All-Japan Marching Contest held on Nov. 21, 2021 at Osaka-jo Hall for the first time in six years. I have found a wonderful photo of the KT members overflowing with joy. Please make no mistake about it. This is the contest for the year 2021.

Here is an excerpt from Kaneshiro-sensei’s comment.
The members of KT gave a performance that conveyed their feelings, and it was the best performance I have ever seen. I have been working on improving the musical side of the band since I became their advisor. We have been practicing to improve pitch and harmony, aiming for a beautiful sound rather than a loud sound, and I think this time we could see the results of our efforts from the fanfare at the beginning of the performance. In the second half, Kyoto Tachibana exploded with their unique style, performing with intense steps, dancing, and bouncy performances.
Since it has been six years since Kyoto Tachibana last participated in the National Contest, there were no experienced performers, and when they entered Osaka-jo Hall for the rehearsal, some of them were so excited that they were overpowered. Izumo Business High School (whose trademark pink costume was based on Kyoto Tachibana’s costume) performed before us, so it was like we were sister schools, and we also had a relationship with Seika Girls’ High School, which performed right after us, having performed and practiced together, so the order of performance was good.
We have been trying to start a new chapter for Kyoto Tachibana, and I feel that we were able to achieve our goal at this national competition.

Could someone ask me a question, please? I’m curious to know what they say at the beginning of ”Down By the Riverside”, I’m Brazilian and in Portuguese it sounds similar to “A BA TE CI”
I appreciate if anyone knows what it means.

It is a strange restriction, given that the Kansai marching contest was viewable from outside Japan. I have asked asahi for clarification but they have not as yet replied. It may be worth attempting to view via VPN (which I’ll be doing).
