14:40 Group B members gather at Kansai International Airport (KIX)
17:40 flight JL60 to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), flight time about 10 hours
Meal: Inflight (supper/breakfast)
December 23 (Monday, Pacific Standard Time):
10:40 Arrive at LAX, load the instruments on the truck
(4 sightseeing buses and a truck are reserved all day until January 4 and their instruments are kept in the truck at nights)
Afternoon: Tour of city of Los Angeles and check-in at a resort hotel near the main gate of the Disneyland
Meal: by themself (the members go to the supermarket on the first day and buy the cereal or snacks for the breakfast during the itinerary. Many students also bring freeze-dried foods from Japan and they eat these daily with using the hot water in their hotel rooms)
December 24 (Tuesday):
All-day practice for Rose Parade at the parking lot of the Angel Stadium
Night: free activities at Disneyland
Meal: by themself (Nestlé provided about 3000 bottles of mineral water free for 5 days of practice)
December 25 (Wednesday):
All-day practice for Rose Parade at the Angel Stadium
Night: free activities at Disneyland
Meal: by themself
December 26 (Thursday):
All-day practice for Rose Parade at the Angel Stadium
Night: free activities at Disneyland
Meal: by themself (lunch provided by GBA)

All-day practice for Rose Parade at the Angel Stadium

I think there might have been a mix-up in the info about flag-bearers, which says that it was a 111th OG with the national flag: I’m pretty sure that it is the 111th OG (“Mio” tenor-sax) with the green GBA-flag; on the other hand I don’t recognize the other flag bearer.

I attended Bandfest, the parade and the benefit concert. This posting allows me to relive it again. And it is most informative of the time the band spent while here as well as the travel. I hope the band enjoyed their time here in the U.S. as much as we enjoyed having them here to perform. They certainly make Japan proud!
