In many occasions I have seen people saying that as unofficial cultural ambassadors of Japan Tachibana of course should appear in the Opening or Closing Ceremonies of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
To help to collect everyone’s voices together there is an online petition open just for this purpose, click here (you can also sign anonymously)!
To spread the word it is also important to add the link to the petition to every place you know there are Tachibana fans: YouTube comments, facebook, Twitter, etc.
Kyoto Tachibana has introduced a new art form: a marching band which performs unique dance choriography to local and worldwide music selections, from Disney, to pop and symphonic pieces. SOOOOO Entertaining that Youtube can hardly keep up! KT is a young women’s organization with 113 members and only 12 young men musicians. So professional sounding despite the simultaneous playing and dancing. They rocked Disneyland/ Anaheim before and during the Rose Parade in 2018. They are the future of parades – and their fans recording them on the fly have created bottlenecks requiring special security to protect the parade route. They have already collaborated with the music professionals at AVEX and their young star Kalen Anzai —see their Youtube performances!

The one thing that would make the band a genuinely appropriate participant in Olympic festivities is their “march on”, “Down By The Riverside” (if the kids even know the lyrics of that famous anti-war song). It truly reflects the hopes of so many Japanese (and worldwide) citizens today. If the Kyoto Tachibana band were to play that for the Olympics, it could be quite a suitable hit.

I agree, but only if they march as the “Orange Devils”. I watched a video in the 2020 Rose Bowl parade and was very disappointed in the Japanese group. Black and green is something you expect from Ireland. With those hats on I couldn’t see the smiling faces.

Beside the Olympic petition, I would suggest that we should sent a petition to Tachibana High School to loosen up the restriction on video shooting in some of the band’s public performing in the future, as I notice that they are putting a band on video at quite a bit of their public performance such as the next one in Aeon Mall, which is unfortunate for overseas fans like us.

Please Tachibana band for the olympics, I’ve heard a lot of bands in my 60 years, but this band sounds better than most professional groups.

I have a degree in instrumental music and have had decades to observe many bands. I only wish we had bands like Tachibana in America. I believe Tachibana certainly deserves to be considered among the very best cultural ambassadors of Japan, and I am happy to sign this petition to promote their appearance on world-wide television at the 2020 Olympics.

With respect I believe you are underestimating how special KT is. Their talent and dedication qualifies them to perform here equally as much as any other group.
However. Has anyone asked themselves whether the school are even interested in doing this to begin with? Haven’t they got so much recognition and fame that it’s become problematic for them?

Tachibana has too much exposed to public. And I am very worried that the rude fans will hurt the band members. In recent video, we can see that the audience is much more than years before, and there are many bad-manners. And alse, of course we should consider the opinion of school.
