Tachibana promoting 100th Summer Kōshien

Information to this post has been kindly provided by Anonymous-san and Trueman Nishi -san.

The traditional National High School Baseball Championship (commonly known as “Summer Kōshien”) was played 100th time August 5-16, 2018 and as part of the celebrations a new theme song (appropriately called “Kōshien”) was created for the event. Theme song is written and performed by singer-songwriter Masaharu Fukuyama and his background band is prominently featuring Tachibana among several other brass bands (= Koshiengakuin Junior and Senior High School, Mukogawa Women’s University Junior and Senior High School, Kwansei Gakuin Senior High School and Nigawa Gakuin Junior and Senior High School). Not surprisingly, Tachibana has been credited also for the choreography of the dance moves.

Note at the school site (in Japanese) is here (Wayback Machine).

The band also appeared in NHK music show “Utacon” with Masaharu Fukuyama broadcasted live from School Festival Hall on August 28, 2018 (click here or here). Note that the band playing in the soundtrack is actually Osaka Tōin High School Brass Band and not Tachibana.

  1. Crazy! After a year and half and dozens upon dozens of KT videos and many hours spent on this site, this is the first time I have seen any of this. Great stuff!

  2. Hi,

Me and my Wife have watched so many videos in YouTube and we love much this band. We are planning to visit Japan for the second time this Autumn this year around mid October to mid November for holiday. Does anyone on the group know if they have schedule/s or most like to perform around that time?

We really love to watch them in real life no matter where they perform.

    Thank you so much.

  3. I have a home Facebook video I would like to post to the blog. Is it possible to do this? If so, how? The video is about my own independent all-girl Color Guard at their appearance presenting our Flag at the pregame ceremonies of the 1988 Cotton Bowl game in Dallas, TX between Texas A&M and Notre Dame. It features our unique Flag Presentation routine that won us more than 350 trophies in parade competitions in parades throughout the U.S. and into Canada. If anybody on the blog knows how to do this, would you please pass the information on to me? I’ll be grateful … and thank you very much.

I think the bloggers might find it interesting … and also members of the KT family who check into this blog.

Also … I once had the email address of ODF but can no longer find it. ODF — if you read this post, would you please send it to me? I think you have my email address. And … thank you very much as well.

  4. Congratulations to TACHIBANA, for being one of the bands chosen to be part of this clip of the most important school tournament promotion, seen by millions of Japanese and where the future stars of baseball come from; with one of Japan’s most famous singer and actor.

Important showcase for the band to be better known in Nihon.
