Time to time videos on Kyoto Tachibana pop up on various websites (usually reddit) causing great admiration and this time it was facebook post by entertainment website i SEENT it! which has generated 6 million views, and more than 100’000 shares and 10’000 comments as I write this (see facebook post here). This video by Mô de in The Japan (see original YouTube-video here) is therefore likely the most watched single video on the band, beating easily Music213 video on 2011 visit to Disneyland (see it here). Especially the band trademark finishing move “Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) seems to create lot of praise by facebook crowd!

The video is on band performance led by then Drum Major “Cony” at the Kyoto Qualifications of the 2015 AJBA All Japan Marching Contest, and as we all remember the band went on winning National Gold that year.

I just wish they would replace the “Japanese Marching Band” with Kyoto Tachibana to give the credit to the right people!

Update December 14, 2017:

About three months after the publication of this facebook-post we are now running at 36 million views, 470’000 shares and 40’000 comments. Pretty good for a small brass band from high-school far far away!

  1. As a fan I think this great- showing the whole world is loving the music they play and the way they carry it it off to us.It’s there smiles and enjoyment of the music -like I told my friends on the U.S. fan club for KT band we can make this an international site for them —Remember our motto Observe from afar— because fans can be crazy, enough about me. This is about the school, the kids enjoyment and future . I just want people to enjoy the music and the kids enjoyment of same to keep this happiness going in the world to change the atmosphere of a lot of adults in this world including some of the kids that get persuaded by the time there in. I don’t want this to become too serious because laughter and happiness shine out the most so I hope we keep the excitement and glow from this going on. Sincerely, Ronald Yoncich in Virginia Beach, Va. U.S.A.

  2. High school band: Japan, especially Kyoto Tachibana,
College band: USA, especially Fighting Texas Aggie Band,
Very different bands but equally the best.

    • When I had my independent Color Guard, the Hilltoppers Color Guard, to Dallas, TX for the ’88 Cotton Bowl parade … and to present the Flag in the pregame ceremonies … we saw the Fighting Texas Aggie Band “up close and personal.” They are, indeed, a very awesome precision marching band. But, to compare that band with the KT band is like comparing an apple to a banana … there is no comparison. They both do their “thing” and do it very well. I just wish I could say that I have seen the KT band “up close and personal”, too. What a coup that would be!
