Band director Hiroyuki Tanaka has proudly announced December 23, 2016 at the Band 53rd Regular Concert that Kyoto Tachibana S.H.S. Band is chosen to perform at 129th Tournament of Roses Parade (January 1, 2018) in Pasadena, California, USA as the representative of Asia (facebook post here, in Japanese). This is the second time for Band to appear there since 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade (January 2, 2012) (see more here) which for a foreign band is an unprecedented feat.

Heartiest congratulations on my behalf and best of success in sunny and warm (???) California on New Year’s Day 2018!

Rose Parade leaflet of the band is below. The words of encouragement by the Drum Major of the Band’s 2012 Rose Parade expedition “Horacha” in the leaflet are translated to English by Tetsuya T -san here.

  1. Is there REALLY a Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band Lego set? I’d like to buy it for my Mom, who’s a huge fan.
    I’d be interested in any of the posters, too, for myself! 🙂
