The band breaks new ground as they are now starring on their own BD/DVD for the first time!

The disc contains the National Final drills of the band at All-Japan Marching Contest 2007-2015 (from 20th to 28th), except for the years 2010 and 2012-13. In 2010 their performance at The 25th National Cultural Festival Okayama is included, and in years 2012-13 band did not qualify to National Finals so their routine in Kansai Qualifications are shown instead.

The comments by the Drum Majors 2007-15 included in the disc are translated to English by Tetsuya T -san here.

As a bonus there is virtual reality 360-degree practice scene (see video below). If you click the arrow keys at top left corner you can rotate the camera around (video by palsmusic):

This BD/DVD is available at PalsMusicShop (in Japanese). Bluray is here, DVD here. The payment method is PayPal and all the discs are region-free and in NTSC-format.

All discs of Tachibana can be found here.

PalsMusicShop does have English pages (they are here) but the discs of Tachibana are not included into that selection. The shop is, however, very willing to ship also other products outside Japan so if you wish to purchase the discs from abroad the recommended method is to send them an email indicating your wishes. Their email-address is: shop (at) palsmusic (dot) jp (see also practical shopping experience here).

Alternatively you can use the contact form for the same. Go to their site (here) and first click open the contact form by clicking the brown button as indicated by the arrow:

That opens the contact form into which you fill in (in this order) your name, telephone number, email address, email address again and finally into the message field you will write your order. Then click the blue button on the left:

This leads to the confirmation screen, click the blue button on the left and it is all done!

Cover design of the disc has evolved into Tachibana-themed bento box by PalsMusicShop:

  1. I have translated a series of short memoirs by DMs from 2007-2015 that were included in one of KT’s DVDs. (https://kyototachibanashsbandunofficialfanblog.wordpress.com/2016/07/26/kyoto-tachibana-s-h-s-band-bddvd/#more-603)
In most cases, the subject is omitted in the Japanese, and in some cases, it is translated as “I” even though it is meant to be “We”, but I have left this to DeepL.

    (1) 2007 The 20th All Japan Marching Contest [Line of DANCE]
    DM: H. Kubota
It was the year of a major rule revision, and it was a year for me to challenge the “rule performance,” which I had not been involved in before. Also, since it was my first time, I was very worried about how to practice. The highlights were the Sing Sing Sing dance and the clarinet solo. I was quite disappointed to win the silver prize at the national competition, but I still remember the excitement I felt when I was able to go to the national competition for the first time in seven years.

    (2) 2008 The 21st All-Japan Marching Contest [Swing with us!]
    DM: S. Akita
This year, we challenged a new KT, improving on our previous sing. Our goal was to win the gold medal at the national competition. We practiced many times to make the new choreography and sound our own. Before the Kansai Tournament, some of our members were injured and were unable to participate, which strengthened our determination to make sure that all of us would participate in the Nationals. On the day of the competition, rather than being nervous or anxious, we were filled with the feeling of “I can’t wait for them to see our performance! I was filled with such feelings. I think the final “HEY!” at the end of the performance speaks volumes about how the members felt. Please enjoy the theme “Swing with us!

    (3) 2009 The 22nd All Japan Marching Contest [Let’s dance all]
    DM: M. Taniguchi
This was the third year in a row that we were able to participate in the national contest. We placed particular emphasis on matching our steps, paying attention to the angles and timing of each step.
In the middle part of the show, we performed a move that had never been done in our previous KTs, in which we moved forward while turning, so I think we were able to “show” a new aspect of ourselves. I hope you will enjoy watching this new and different KT show!

    (4) Marching and baton twirling festival at the 25th National Cultural Festival Okayama 2010 [Catch Your Heart!]
    DM: A. 小原
This year was a different year from previous years due to our participation in the All Japan Marching Contest for three consecutive years. We traveled not only to Kansai but also to other parts of Japan and were able to show our entertainment to many people. We performed and expressed our gratitude to all those who supported us. At the Okayama National Cultural Festival, we received applause, cheers, and compliments from the famous American band, which was a great experience.

    (5) 2011 The 24th All Japan Marching Contest [Share Best Smile]
    DM: H. Asada
This year was the first year after our third consecutive appearance in the national contest, and we faced many problems such as the small number of members and the lack of experienced members! I was determined not to let KT’s traditions die out! We overcame many difficulties, and with the support of those around us, we were able to achieve our goal.

    (6) 2012 The 40th Kansai Marching Contest [We are Entertainer]
    DM: A. Yamaguchi
This was the year that many first-year students who were influenced by the broadcast of the interview joined the club, and although there were about 70 first-year students compared to 20 second- and third-year students each, the unity and support of the second- and third-year students were reassuring, and since there were many motivated first-year students in the club as well, we struggled every day with the help of our club members.
This was also the first year that pit instruments were banned, and the last year that there was no limit on the number of players, so we probably had the largest number of players in recent years. It was a year with many highlights.

    (7) 2013 The 41st Kansai Marching Contest [Hit like sunshine]
    DM: N. Saito
We practiced hard under the theme of “Hit like sunshine”, aiming to give a performance that would naturally cheer up the audience like the sun shining on everyone! We had a lot of hardships in the environment of 21 third-year students and 100 juniors, but we never forgot to “enjoy” ourselves first, and through repeated practice and hard work, we created a marching show that everyone enjoyed.

    (8) 2014 The 27th All Japan Marching Contest [Dream Come True]
    DM: N. Fujiwara
This was the first year that all three grades had never participated in a national contest. Not wanting to be called a band that only moves, each one of us faced our own sound, faced our friends, sometimes fought, sometimes cried, and moved forward.
The third-year students who never gave up, no matter how hard it was, and the first- and second-year students who worked so hard to follow them, grasped their dreams by their own power. Please enjoy the Dreams come true created by 112 orange devils who proved that dreams could come true.

    (9) 2015 The 28th All-Japan Marching Contest [FIND YOUR ADVENTURE]
    DM: Y. Okamoto
”Hearts Are One” is the slogan we have adopted separately from the theme of our performance. Believing that our hearts are always connected, we pursued our own and KT’s originality. Just before the National Convention, when everyone’s sound became one, I truly felt that our hearts were one. We won the gold medal at the national competition with the guidance of our seniors and the belief in all of us. I will never forget that moment.

  2. I’ve sent an email to Pals Music, to request purchasing the three Blu-ray discs. Looking forward to getting them, and being able to transfer the music tracks onto my phone – so I can listen all the time. 🙂

    • The three Blu-ray discs that I ordered on 13-SEP-21 arrived today.
Playing the first one “Sing! Sing! Sing! / 2007-2015” now, using VLC on my Kubuntu Linux PC, and it’s got great audio & video quality.

    • I received my DVD’s last week. It only took a few days to arrive after purchase. I live in West Texas. I emailed Pals music and told them what I wanted. They got back with me a few hours later (15 hour time difference). They emailed me back the price, I said let’s go for it. The transaction was done through paypal. This transaction only took a couple of minutes. It was all in English, however I did get the chance to use some of my Japanese language (I will never be fluent, no hope…LOL) So if you want to get those DVD’s go for it!

  4. It appears the BD/DVD is indeed still available. I was all set to purchase, then realized it does not include 2017 and 2018 with DM Ron and DM Okazel, for those respective years. Being a relative newcomer, those two are my favorite DMs.

Others have brought it up, but it would be of great interest to know what these talented young women go on to do – pursue music careers? Play in another band? Nothing at all??
